Hello everyone, I’m Christina, a Clinical Psychology Master’s student at Leiden University, currently completing my internship at Compass Psychology here in Helsinki. My academic path has been focused on understanding psychopathology and therapeutic processes, with coursework in Cognitive Behavioural Interventions, Trauma & Mental Health and Clinical Interviewing & Assessment. I’m currently writing my thesis on Childhood Trauma and Chronic Pain: The Mediating Role of PTSD – a subject that reflects my deep interest in the mind-body connection and how early life experiences can shape our emotional and physical well-being.
Alongside my studies, I’m undertaking additional training in Schema Therapy, an approach I find especially powerful in working with long-standing emotional patterns, self-concept, and relational difficulties. I’m particularly drawn to trauma-informed practice and aim to create a safe, reflective space where clients can explore the impact of their past and work toward a more fulfilling present.
Before moving into the field of psychology, I lived and worked abroad for a few years. A particularly formative time for me was spent in New York City, working at the Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations. It was a high-intensity, multicultural environment where I witnessed both the energy of global diplomacy and the challenges of constant pressure and hierarchy. That experience left me with a deep appreciation for the importance of mental well-being, and a desire to support individuals in a more personal and meaningful way.
At Compass Psychology, I bring with me an international perspective, a warm presence, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story. I offer sessions in both English and Finnish. Outside of work, I recharge by spending time in nature, reading, and hanging out with my friends and two cats – who have deepened my appreciation for the importance of patience, empathy, sensitivity, and creating a sense of safety. These are values I also bring into my work as a therapist. Supporting people on their path toward greater clarity and self-understanding is something I find deeply meaningful, and I’m grateful to be part of the Compass team.
